moment of the afternoon.
Sun’s germ. rudiment

of seed, bud, psalm.
light sings through western rose, red
rims sedge, spills itself

on the box-wood, granite:
Cathedral-thurifer, Earth,
mountain, grass, glass, lead:

Inordinate gift.
Sunlit cycles closing in
a scarlet crown.
